Kathmandu . Grande International Hospital proudly announces its recognition as an Advanced Stroke Centre by the World Stroke Organization (WSO), marking a historic milestone in Nepal’s healthcare landscape being the first Hospital in entire country to be recognized as the Advanced stroke center. The hospital has been accredited for three years, effective from October 17, 2025, to October 16, 2028.
This prestigious accreditation recognizes Grande International Hospital’s adherence to evidence-informed global standards for stroke care and its demonstrated excellence in clinical practice and patient outcome. The hospital joins an elite group of healthcare institutions worldwide that meet the rigorous criteria established by the World Stroke Organization.

The Advanced Stroke Centre designation signifies that Grande International Hospital has established comprehensive stroke care capabilities, including:
1. 24/7 access to specialized stroke care teams which includes Neurologist, Neurosurgeon, Emergency Physician, Interventional radiologist, Intensivist, Physical and rehabilitation therapist. Emergency and ICU stroke Nurses, Speech and Language therapist, Prehospital Emergency Medical service team, Pharmacist, Hospital administration and social
2. Advanced neuroimaging and diagnostic capabilities
3. Rapid administration of time-sensitive treatments including thrombolyties and thrombectomy
4. Evidence-based protocols for acute stroke management
5. Comprehensive rehabilitation services
6. Ongoing quality monitoring and outcome tracking using ResQ registry
The accreditation process involved a rigorous evaluation of the hospital’s stroke care infrastructure, clinical protocols, patient outcomes, and adherence to international best practices by the team of Experts from World Stroke Organisation which included Associate Prof Dr Dierdre De Silva. Secretary of World Stroke Organisation and Consultant Neurologist from National Neuroscience Institute Singapore Together with Ms Rupal Sedani Global certification lead of WSO – The certification was awarded by WSO President Dr. Jeyaraj D Pandian, Immediate Past President Dr. Sheila Martins, and Treasurer Dr. Valeria Caso.
