Kathmandu, Nepal . The Rotary Club of Baneshwor has successfully conducted a Community Health Camp in association with Kathmandu Medical College, Sinamangal at Shivalaya Primary School, Shivapuri Rural Municipality, Nuwakot. The camp was organized on 25th January, 2026 and over 350 participants benefitted from the services provided in the camp.
The services offered in the camp were consultations and care regarding General Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dental Eye, ENT, as well as ECG, USG, and laboratory tests. Many of the residents from Shivapuri Rural Municipality had limited access to health care service, so the community health camp provided them with a chance to learn more about their health.
Pharmaceutical companies stepped forward to contribute to the distribution of medicines valued at NPR 1,14,000 to the patients at no cost, reducing the financial burden that so often stands between diagnosis and treatment in rural Nepal. The visible relief on attendees’ faces as they received their medicines was a reminder of what accessible healthcare can mean in practice.
The response from the community was overwhelming. For many, the camp marked their first consultation with a specialist and most of those who attended had been putting off medical attention for months, if not years. The camp finally gave them a way to seek answers to their untreated conditions. The participation alone spoke how deeply healthcare services are needed in areas like Shivapuri, where the nearest hospital can be both far and expensive to reach.
The Rotary Club of Baneshwor expressed their deepest appreciation to Kathmandu Medical College for their expertise and commitment, to the local government of Shivapuri Rural Municipality for facilitating the event, to Shivalaya Primary School for opening its doors, and to every pharmaceutical company, Rotarian, and volunteer who gave their time and resources to make the day a success.
