Kathmandu .The Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents (NATTA) successfully represented Nepal at the International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA) Annual Conference and the International Conference of Mountain Tourism & Outdoor Sports (MTOS 2025) held from 11–13 November 2025 in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, China. The conference, themed “Integration of Culture, Sports and Tourism for a High-Quality Life,” brought together delegates from over 40 countries and 100 organizations to advance sustainable mountain tourism cooperation.

Nepal’s Mundum Trail, located in the eastern hills and rich in cultural and ecological diversity, was honored at the IMTA–MTOS awards for its contribution to sustainable mountain tourism. This follows last year’s recognition of Annapurna I as one of the “World Famous Tourism Mountains,” further affirming Nepal’s leadership in mountain-based tourism products. The Mundum Trail’s acknowledgment celebrates its blend of indigenous culture, biodiversity, and community-led adventure potential.

Furthermore, NATTA President, Mr. Kumar Mani Thapaliya delivered a powerful presentation on Nepal’s mountain tourism vision, supported by a short video presentation scripted and compiled by NATTA Secretary General Ms. Yubika Bhandari. The presentation highlighted Nepal’s commitment to responsible trekking, cultural preservation, and inclusive community benefits. The speech and visuals received high acclaim from international delegates and IMTA officials, resonating deeply with the event’s call for high-quality, people-centered tourism.

President Thapaliya emphasized, “Nepal’s tourism vision is straightforward. Sustain our peaks, uplift our people, and deliver authentic, meaningful, and unforgettable experiences. Mountains connect us geographically, economically, and spiritually.”NATTA, a founding and Council Member of IMTA, reaffirmed its commitment to promoting responsible tourism and advancing partnerships across borders. During the conference, Mr. Thapaliya attended the IMTA Council Meeting, where discussions focused on integrating culture, sports, and tourism; enhancing safety standards and building mountain resilience through collaborative initiatives. The conference also featured distinguished presentations from Mr. Peter Semone, President of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA); Mr. Liu Zhaohui, Vice Chairman of IMTA; and Mr. Giorgio Grussu, FAO Mountain Partnership Secretariat, among others. NATTA delegation included Mr. Kumar Mani Thapaliya, President; Ms. Yubika Bhandari, Secretary General; Mr. Bidur Khatiwada, Executive Member.

As Nepal and China mark 70 years of diplomatic relations, NATTA reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening people-to-people ties through tourism. The association will continue to work closely with Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), TAAN, NMA, and IMTA partners to transform Nepal’s mountain destinations into global models of sustainability, safety, and shared prosperity.“We invite the world to visit Nepal but to partner with our mountain communities; to protect, promote, and prosper together,” said Mr. Thapaliya in his concluding remarks.
