Kathmandu, Nepal .The Rotary Club of Baneshwor has pursued an ambitious and wide-ranging program of services, ones that has taken its members from remote hills of Nuwakot and Kavre to the streets and schools of Kathmandu. Under the leadership of President Rtn. Rupali Sarawgi and guided by the Rotary international’s global theme “Unite for Good”, the club has channelled its energy into initiatives spanning healthcare, adolescent education, road safety, environmental action, emergency relief, and international collaboration.
On 25th January 2026, the club partnered with Kathmandu Medical College to conduct a Community Health Camp that aimed to provide consultations and care in General Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dental, Eye, ENT along with diagnostic services such as ECG, USG, and laboratory tests. There were more than 350 participants. Medicines worth NPR 1,14,000 were distributed free of cost to the patients in need with the support of pharmaceutical companies. The response from the community itself showed how limited is access to health facilities in rural areas of Nepal and these regions are in dire need of healthcare services.
The club launched Ujyalo Bato Project, a structured adolescent health education program delivered in partnership with Pyari Education Pvt. Ltd. at Shree Ananda Bhairav Secondary School in Mulpani. The project ran from November 9th 2025 to March 15th 2026. Reaching 304 students across Grades 7 to 9, the program addressed topics like puberty, menstrual health, reproductive health, consent, body image, gender identity, mental well being and media literacy through activity based learning and open discussions. By the final session, the students who had struggled to engage initially were speaking about these subjects with clarity and confidence.
Earlier on 18th Oct 2025, the club, in collaboration with Alfa Care, had organized a Free Health Check-Up and Blood Donation Camp at Alfa Beta Complex, Baneshwor, attracting over 200 individuals with more than 25 donors. The initiative offered free doctor consultations, free diabetes and BMI screenings. Along with that, 50% discount on blood tests, 20% discount on radiology and cardiology services, and a special comprehensive package of Rs. 3500 at a subsidized rate of just Rs. 999 were offered to the attendees. A similar blood donation program was organized on 10th January, 2026 at City Center where 8 pints of blood were collected, showing compassion of individuals to help the ones in need.
On the education front, the club has secured approval for an international service project with the Rotary Club of Enhesisheim, district 1680, France, for the reconstruction of Shree Bhairab Adharbhoot Bidhyalaya in Khanikhola, Kavre. The project also aims to expand the student capacity to 100 by adding new classrooms. Dismantling work commenced on 26th March, with construction materials already
dispatched to site.
In the same village Khanikhola, an initiative to provide students with warm clothing during harsh winters was taken. The Warm Hearts, Warm Paths initiative was carried out on 28th November, 2025 at Shree Janhit Secondary School where 162 students were provided with high-quality tracksuits. Each tracksuit carried the Rotary Logo which symbolized care, support, and commitment of the club to community service.
Back in the city, the club has take 1/3 e of road safety around schools. With a vision to build safer and more munity, a campaign to make Baneshwor “School-Friendly Zone” was launched, where the club plans to paint zebracrossing outside 7 schools in Baneshwor and install “School Ahead – Drive Slow” signage to promote safer driving behavior near school zones. This follows the Road Safety and Traffic Awareness Program which was conducted on 16th July, 2026 in joint collaboration of Rotaract Club of Baneshwor, Rotaract Club of Baneshwor Royal, Interact Club of Chelsea International Academy and youth arms, promoting responsible road behavior and civic awareness among students and community members. The event took place at Rehdon College and School, Samakhusi with 250 students from grade 10 and 12, 5 teachers and staff.
The club also responded swiftly when the Gaushala Police Station was severely affected during the unrest of September 2025. In partnership with Battisputali Yuba Samaj, the club provided immediate relief worth NPR 1.5 lakh including food supplies, utensils, gas cylinders, tracksuits, and computer equipment to 154 policemen and staff positioned there.
On the environmental side, the club joined hands with Indreni Bhutkhel Community Forest in Tokha to carry out a tree and fruit nursery establishment program on 26th July, 2025. Rather than a conventional plantation drive, the club took a measured approach, donating 400 saplings to be nurtured in a managed nursery before being planted in the field, significantly improving survival rates. An additional 50 cypress trees were planted directly on the day.
Alongside its service projects, the club marked Rotary’s End Polio Mission with a Bhaktapur Heritage Walk Fellowship on 25th October 2025, bringing together 24 members and 5 children for a guided tour of Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The day blended fellowship with purpose, and was also used as an opportunity by TRF Char PP Arun Bansal to encourage contributions towards The Rotary Foundation.
These initiatives reflect a club that is active and deeply connected to the communities it serves, whether that means travelling hours into the hills with loads, redesigning how adolescents understand their own body, or repainting the lines that keeps a child safe on the busy streets of Kathmandu. The Rotary Club of Baneshwor has always remained committed to their goals and missions.
